The Animation and artwork of `Wilfred' are principally the work of  three northern based artists. Rostrum cut-out by Robert Jefferson  uses soldiers that are reminiscent of the work of the  artist Otto Dix, and the  war machine inspired by the powerful Jacob Epstein sculpture,The Rock Drill.The traditional drawn animation, generated using the Animo  computer system was styled upon the prolific poster art of the period  by the animator David Bunting (http://davebunting.blogspot.com), and Yvonne Elvin created a series of memorable paintings of disturbing landscapes based on the  startling landscapes of Paul Nash .
